First of all Control-M covers all platforms with one architecture, not being limited to any platform or OS. 
It is growing at multiples of the general growth of the Workload Automation industry and indeed is one of the fastest growing solution in BMC.

Whilst Digital Business Automation as a discipline is associated with Production, Control-M is developing its coverage to development and data related people and disciplines. It covers, not only Data Integration and BI solutions but is making inroads into Big Data. We have strong partnerships with the major distributors in the Big Data marketplace.
We don’t just talk to Schedulers but are involved more and more with the business of our clients, from traditional business to fast moving, innovators running their entire business in the Cloud.

This is a highly visible role working with some of our most successful sales teams, supporting prestigious enterprise clients and new logo accounts. 

Key responsibilities include: 
  • Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle to drive opportunities to a successful conclusion.
  • Ability to interpret sometimes complex customer needs and develop innovative solutions supporting recognized technical and business value
  • Ability to simplify the communication of both technical and business content to a varied audience (technical and non-technical customers).
  • Ability to navigate and focus on large and sometimes complex sales opportunities with multiple technologies.
  • Actively participates in sales calls as the solution expert ensuring alignment between the capabilities and value of the solution and the needs of the customer.
  • Responsible for explaining and researching the technical capabilities of BMC's Digital Business Automation products vs. our competition.
  • Customizes and Delivers technical presentations for BMC’s Digital Business Automation solutions based on the discovered solution requirements.
  • Builds deliverables for use by Sales and other solution engineers during the sales cycle.
  • Delivers compelling demonstrations aligned to solving the business challenges uncovered
  • Delivers presentations and demonstrations at BMC events and industry Trade shows
  • Researches, composes and delivers responses to RFPs. Interacts with clients to clarify requirements.
  • Creates and posts online industry specific content (Whitepapers, Blogs, etc..)
  • Actively works with the customer to document their current state, including applicable metrics to assist in defining the correct solution and support in business case creation
  • Installs solutions and executes proof of concepts aligned to specific agreed upon business requirements.
To be a successful Solutions Engineer, you’ll need 
  • Significant presales or technical experience in Software is required 
  • Ability to communicate technical and business information to a varied audience (technical and non-technical customers).
  • Subject matter expert on the technology and business use of one or more Workload Automation solutions (not necessarily Control-M) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with multiple, different IT platforms including mainframe, would be preferred.
  • Experience with Workload Automation tools in a Business Intelligence application environment, such as SAP or others, would be preferred.
  • Experience with Runbook Automation or IT Process Automation would be useful
  • Experience in working with Sales to build a business case.
  • Knowledge of Workload Automation or Big Data subjects is highly desirable
  • Ability to develop a broad awareness of the client's technical architecture and emerging technologies with enough knowledge to determine what is and is not possible.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability.
  • Substantial experience working in an enterprise-type software consulting, implementation, support or training experience a major plus.
