BU Description/Position Description:

The candidate is expected to work on BMC products and should have strong product development experience and worked with products and solutions.

Responsible for taking complete ownership of various components of a flagship BMC product, developed in JAVA and various other open source technologies C. Along with development, he/she will also be responsible to tend to critical customer escalations and provide timely resolutions and/or hot fixes. The candidate is also expected to provide technical help/expertise to field engineers, technicians, product support and customers who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex systems and/or software.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in module design with focus paid to the production of high quality, portable, maintainable and BMC standards compliant software; Provides design and requirement inputs to product architect in support of aforementioned goals
  • A team member who is passionate about quality and demonstrate creativity and innovation in enhancing the product, with excellent problem solving, debugging, analytical and communication skills.
  • Understand real world deployment and usage scenarios from customers and product managers and translate them to product features that drive value of the product. Work with other internal groups like QA and technical writers through the development cycle. 
  • Ability to quickly learn new languages and technologies as required for a successful project delivery.
  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. 
  • Critiques the initial problem analysis and ensures that all documentation necessary for problem resolution is available in a timely manner.
  • Reviews and monitors the problem status data to ensure sufficient back up for the support team.
  • Coaches junior support team members in handling difficult customer situations.

Experience/ Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of experience
  • Experience with object-oriented development, experience writing commercial-grade software applications;
  • Strong knowledge of the following technologies: 
  •  Core & Advanced Java (Threading, Design Patterns, Data         Structures), REST web services
  •  Working with open source technologies like Kafka, Zookeeper, Nginx etc.
  •  Windows, UNIX (LINUX, Solaris), HPUX, AIX Operating Systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related disciplines preferred
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment and tools is required
  • Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction with the ability to provide problem resolution in a timely manner.  
  • Quickly develop working knowledge of many products and integrations. 
  • Coordinate effective problem isolation across multiple product teams
  • Experienced in bug fixing and testing the fixes in various environments and for various releases.


Position Specific Competencies/Skills required: 

  • Mastery in Core & Advanced Java
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows, UNIX, HPUX, AIX
  • Excellent Troubleshooting and Problem-solving skills
  •  Analysing the crash dumps etc
  •  Experience on memory profiling tools 
  •  Experience on debugging tools 
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic Networking concepts
  • Experience working on Perforce, GIT or any other source code control system
  • Excellent written & verbal communication with both, internal and also with external folks (customers) 
  • Proactive in learning new versions, products, modules 

Additional technical skills (preferred) 

  • Database - Sybase/SQL/Oracle familiarity 
  • Good knowledge or familiarity with C, C++
  • Knowledge and understanding of BMC-Remedy Products 
  • Knowledge of multiple BMC products  
  • Quickly developing working knowledge of many products and integrations. 
  • Coordinate effective problem isolation across multiple product teams.

Education and Experience Required/Desired:

  • BTech/BS/MS/MTech degree in CS or related technical field OR equivalent experience in programming software for systems and/or applications 
  • 8+ years’ experience
